The Northwest Native American Basketweavers’ (NNABA) mission to preserve, promote, and perpetuate the traditional art of Northwest Native American Basketry.  Our primary means of fulfilling this vital mission is through our annual gatherings, this year will be our 27th.

The Northwest Native American Basketweavers bring 30-40 featured weavers and 10 youth track teachers to teach our membership ages 8 to 90+ years old in a weavers teaching weavers gathering totaling approximately 500-600 people annually.

In order to bring experienced teachers to our adult membership and our youth track children we depend on funds from three sources;  one being membership and gathering registration fees,  and another being through our annual silent auction held on Saturday afternoon at our gatherings, and lastly through monetary donations.

A donation of any size and type to our silent auction is welcome.  We accept them at either our registration tables on Thursday, Friday morning or our silent auction table in the Tulalip gathering hall.  We will accept donations via PO Box 556, Black Diamond WA 98010 if post marked by 9/23/24 to ensure delivery.

Monetary donations may be mailed to PO Box 556, Black Diamond, WA 98010 or hand delivered to our registration table at the gathering.

NNABA is a 501©3 not for profit organization which makes donations deductible to those of you who qualify per IRS codes.

You can make a difference. In order for us to keep our traditional basketry alive, we must have continue opportunities to share and learn our basketry techniques, as well as maintain the traditional way of gathering and preparing materials.

This is done through weavers teaching weavers events; providing presentation and speakers to help share knowledge that effects weaving from material issues like pesticides and access, finding available markets, providing showcases collector and museum. We are currently providing a youth track teaching day at the annual gathering to provide children with a culturally respectful opportunity to learn and perpetuate native basketry.

Donations

Your donation allows us to connect people and create learning and sharing opportunities to weavers from ages 8 to our honored elders in their eighties.  Your financial assistance can make an impact on our ability to achieve our mission to promote, preserve, and perpetuate traditional Northwest Native American Basketry.  We are a 501c3 non-profit organization and donations to NNABA are tax deductible.

Spread the Word

Tell your friends and family about these issues facing native basketry art and that we are here to provide opportunities to learn from each other in a traditional and culturally respectful manner.
